Halloumi Cheese Patties
Hot off the grill - New Cheese Patties!
Authentic from Cyprus, our Halloumi Cheese Patties are offered in 4 conveniently sliced patties. They are perfect for grilling on the barbecue, in a pan or even baked in the oven! Once cooked, the edges get crisp, yet the center keeps its silky texture.
Ingredients
For the herb mayo
- 1 bulb garlic
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ¾ cup mayonnaise
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tbsp minced fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp minced fresh chives
- Sea salt and cracked black pepper
For The BLT Sandwiches
- 8 strips bacon
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 package Saputo Halloumi Cheese Patties
- 8 thick-cut slices your favorite sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 large tomatoes, sliced
- 4 sandwich-sized lettuce leaves
- 2 avocados, smashed
Directions
- Preheat an oven (or grill) to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper fitted with a rack on top.
- Next, prepare your mayo. Trim about ¼-inch from the end of the garlic bulb, exposing the garlic cloves, then drizzle with olive oil and season with a pinch of sea salt. Wrap tightly in foil then roast until golden and creamy, about 35 - 40 minutes. Cool until workable, then squeeze out the garlic cloves and mash into a paste. In a bowl, combine the garlic paste, mayo, lemon zest and juice, basil, chives, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Chill in the fridge while you prepare your sandwiches.
- Meanwhile, on the prepared baking tray, arrange your bacon in an even layer then baste all over with maple syrup. Transfer to the oven and bake until golden and crispy, about 25 - 30 minutes.
- Heat a grill over medium-heat. Drizzle the bread with olive oil and toast on the grill until charred, then add your Saputo Halloumi Cheese Patties and grill until golden and slightly charred on both sides.
- Build your BLT sandwiches on that grilled bread with a heaping portion of mayo, lettuce, tomato, crispy bacon, Saputo Halloumi Cheese Patties, and your second piece of bread spread with smashed avocado. Delicious!
