Sausage Baked Rotini

Mozzarellissima Shredded Cheese
A semi-soft ivory coloured cheese with a milky, slightly salty flavour. It has a moisture-rich, rindless body with a springy firmness. Shredded for convenience.
Ingredients
- 450 g Rotini
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion finely diced
- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 450g Hot or mild Italian sausage meat (without the casing)
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 ½ cup or your favourite Marinara Sauce
- 1 ½ cup Saputo Mozzarellissima Shredded Cheese
- ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Cook pasta according to instructions to al dente and drizzle with olive oil and set aside.
- While pasta is cooking, In a large pan, over med-high heat, add olive oil and cook onions for 2 minutes. Add the garlic for 1 minute and then add the sausage meat. Break up the meat with a spatula and continue stirring until the meat is no longer pink.
- Add the milk and let reduce for 2-3 minutes before adding the Marinara. Let simmer for 4-5 minutes
- In a casserole dish, add the cooked pasta and sausage sauce and mix well with ½ cup Saputo Mozzarellissima cheese.
- Top with remaining 1 cup of Saputo Mozzarellissima cheese and bake for 20-30 minutes uncovered. (You can broil for 1-2 minutes for a crispier finish if you like.)
- Serve warm.
