Sausage Baked Rotini

Ingredients

  • 450 g Rotini
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 450g Hot or mild Italian sausage meat (without the casing)
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cup or your favourite Marinara Sauce
  • 1 ½ cup Saputo Mozzarellissima Shredded Cheese
  • ¼ tsp chili flakes (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cook pasta according to instructions to al dente and drizzle with olive oil and set aside.
  3. While pasta is cooking, In a large pan, over med-high heat, add olive oil and cook onions for 2 minutes. Add the garlic for 1 minute and then add the sausage meat. Break up the meat with a spatula and continue stirring until the meat is no longer pink.
  4. Add the milk and let reduce for 2-3 minutes before adding the Marinara. Let simmer for 4-5 minutes
  5. In a casserole dish, add the cooked pasta and sausage sauce and mix well with ½ cup Saputo Mozzarellissima cheese.
  6. Top with remaining 1 cup of Saputo Mozzarellissima cheese and bake for 20-30 minutes uncovered. (You can broil for 1-2 minutes for a crispier finish if you like.)
  7. Serve warm.
